First Cymru Bus Services

January changes to First Cymru bus services / Consultation about bus services in Haverfordwest area

Changes will be made from 5 January 2026 to the 302, 349 and X49 local bus services, operated by First Cymru.  This includes new morning peak journeys in both directions on the 349 service between Haverfordwest and Tenby via Pembroke Dock.

The new timetables are available online.

In addition, a consultation has been launched seeking views on proposed changes to a number of other bus services around the Haverfordwest area to improve reliability and provide better connections with other bus and train services.

The proposals affect the following services:

  • 301 – Haverfordwest Town Service
  • 307 – Haverfordwest – Merlin’s Bridge circular
  • 308 – Haverfordwest – Llangwm – Burton circular
  • 311 – Haverfordwest to Broad Haven
  • 313 – Haverfordwest to Wiston

The consultation is available online. The deadline for responses is 26th January 2026.  Any changes to these bus services would be introduced in Spring 2026.

The U3445 road is a no through road serving a number of properties. Access will be maintained subject to long delays.

Emergency vehicle access will be maintained where practicable.

CONSULTATION ON 'NO WAITING' ALONG A487 THROUGH NEWPORT

The Town Council has received notification of SWTRA’s intent to consult on a TRO (see below) along the main road through the town.  The council has drafted its response directly to the contractor.  Cllr Huw Murphy is also seeking views from businesses and residents regarding this proposal. Please note that this is not the formal consultation and there will be time to respond more fully at a later date.

Amey Consulting have been appointed by the South Wales Trunk Road Agent on behalf of Welsh Government to progress a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) for the ‘prohibition of waiting at any time’ along the A487 Trunk Road through the town of Newport, Pembrokeshire.

A draft TRO plan has been produced detailing the extents of the proposed waiting restrictions.

Our aim is to gain your initial views and feedback on the proposals in advance of the official orders consultation; therefore, I welcome you to provide your feedback.

I would appreciate if any response could be made within 10 working days in receipt to this email (close of business 24/11/2025) to enable your views to accompany the submission of the order.

However, should you not be able to provide comment on this occasion, you will have another opportunity to do so in the stage 1 consultation.

Newport Christmas Market Temporary Road Closure

THE COUNTY OF PEMBROKE (MARKET STREET, NEWPORT) (CHRISTMAS MARKET)

(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

Subject to those provisions contained in articles 2 and  3, Market Street, Newport from its junction with the A487(T) Fishguard to Cardigan Road south to its junction with Upper Bridge Street shall be closed to all vehicular traffic including pedal cycles on Saturday 13 th December 2025, between 13:00hrs and 23:00hrs.

Roads affected in Newport – Maes Y Cnwce

The effect of the Order, which will have a maximum duration of 12 months, will be to:-

  1. temporarily prohibit all vehicular traffic, other than exempted vehicles, from proceeding along those sections of road where there is insufficient carriageway width to maintain traffic flow during the works.
  2. impose a temporary 20mph speed limit on all sections of road following resurfacing works.

It is intended that the restrictions, which will be signed accordingly, will come into force on Monday 5th January 2026 with work being undertaken on a rolling programme. Alternative routes will be provided and signed accordingly. Pedestrian access will also be maintained together with limited vehicular access to affected properties which are located outside of the works area.

Enquiries for Castle Bus Stop Garden Maintenance

Can you get involved in enhancing our local environment? Do you have the skills and time for some small scale landscaping? 

Newport Town Council are looking for an enthusiastic person or people to tidy and landscape the area of land surrounding and behind the bus stop opposite the Castle Hotel.
The Council can provide reasonable financial resources for equipment hire and the purchase of shrubs etc. However, the work itself will be voluntary.

It is intended that the restrictions, which will be signed accordingly, will come into effect on Monday 10 th November 2025 for approximately 15 working days between the hours of 09:30hrs-15:30hrs.

These works will be carried out on a rolling programme to minimise disruption. The alternative route for traffic will be determined and signed accordingly as works progress. Where no alternative route is available, access will be maintained subject to long delays.
