Letter from Keep Wales Tidy

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i chi.

Mae Cadwch Gymru’n Daclus wedi bod yn gweithio mewn partneriaeth ag Awdurdodau Lleol ledled Cymru am flynyddoedd lawer, yn cydweithio i ddiogelu a chynnal ansawdd ein hamgylchedd lleol.

2018 yw Flwyddyn y Môr Croeso Cymru ac rydym am ddathlu’n morlin rhyfeddol, ond rhaid i ni beidio â cholli golwg ar yr her fyd-eang a wynebwn - effaith ddinistriol sbwriel y môr. Caiff dros wyth miliwn tunnell fetrig o lygredd plastig ei ollwng i’r cefnfor ym mhob cwr o’r byd bob blwyddyn, gyda rhai gwyddonwyr yn darogan y bydd swm y plastigion yn y cefnforoedd yn pwyso mwy na’r pysgod erbyn 2050.

Wrth gwrs, nid yw problem sbwriel y môr ond yn berthnasol i gymunedau arfordirol - mewn gwirionedd daw 80% o falurion y môr o ffynonellau seiliedig ar y tir. Felly, er mwyn mynd i’r afael â sbwriel y môr, mae’n hanfodol bod pawb yn deall sut mae sbwriel o’r tir yn cyrraedd ein hafonydd a’n cefnforoedd a’n bod ni’n dod at ein gilydd i frwydro yn erbyn y broblem hon.

Hoffem gael eich cefnogaeth gydag ymgyrch arbennig y byddwn yn ei gynnal ar ddechrau Mawrth. Cynhelir Gwanwyn Glân Cymru rhwng 1 a 4 Mawrth ac mae’n anelu at ysbrydoli pobl i fynd allan i’r awyr agored, bod yn egnïol a helpu i ofalu am eu hardal leol. Bydd pobl ledled Cymru yn dod at ei gilydd i lanhau ein cymdogaethau, ein traethau ac afonydd - gan ddod â phobl i gartref bod plastigion a gwastraff arall yn dod i ben yn ein cefnforoedd oherwydd sbwriel anghyfrifol.

Bydd adnoddau y gellir eu llwytho i lawr ar gael ar ein gwefan i helpu i hybu’r ymgyrch. Ewch i   www.keepwalestidy.cymru am fwy o wybodaeth.

Cofiwch ymateb i’n tîm Gwanwyn Glân Cymru yn This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  gan nodi eich parodrwydd i gymryd rhan yn yr ymgyrch ac â phwy y dylem gysylltu yn eich awdurdod. Byddwn yn cysylltu â chi eto yn fuan gyda mwy o fanylion.

Blwyddyn diwethaf, fe wnaethom ddiweddaru ein Strategaeth Gorfforaethol, sydd ar gael i'w weld neu ei lawrlwytho ar ein gwefan Strategaeth 2017-2020.

 Yn Gywir,

Lesley Jones
Prif Weithredwr, Cadwch Gymru’n Daclus

A Happy New Year to you.

Keep Wales Tidy has been working in partnership with Local Authorities across Wales for many years, working together to protect and maintain the quality of our local environment.

As 2018 is Visit Wales’ Year of the Sea we want to celebrate our wonderful coastline, but we mustn’t lose sight of the global challenge we’re facing – the devastating impact of marine litter. Over eight million tonnes of plastic pollution are dumped into the ocean globally every year, with some scientists predicting that by 2050, the quantity of plastics in the oceans will weigh more than the fish.

Of course, the issue of marine litter is not just relevant to coastal communities – in fact 80% of marine debris is from land-based sources. So, to address marine litter, it’s crucial for everyone to understand how litter from land ends up in our rivers and oceans and to come together to tackle this problem. It would be great if you could help us to engage your local community in taking action.

We would love to have your support with a particular campaign we will be running once again in early March. Spring Clean Cymru will take place from 1-4 March 2018 and aims to inspire people to get outdoors, get active and help care for their local area. People across Wales will come together to clean up our neighbourhoods, beaches and rivers – bringing home to people that plastics and other waste ends up in our oceans because of irresponsible littering. Downloadable resources will be available on our website to help promote the campaign.

Please respond to our Spring Clean Cymru team at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. indicating your willingness to engage in the campaign and who we should liaise with within your authority.

Last year we updated our Corporate Strategy, which is available to view or download via our website 2017-2020 Corporate Strategy.

 Yours Sincerely,

Lesley Jones
Chief Executive, Keep Wales Tidy
