Newport and District Chamber of Trade and Tourism was established to:

  • Consider and promote plans and schemes to improve and secure the trading and commercial interests of the traders, merchants, manufacturers, professional men and women and others of the town of Newport and the surrounding district.
  • Distribute information regarding the interests of members of the Chamber.
  • Discourage unfair trading practices.
  • Create and foster a spirit of goodwill, friendship and unity among members of the Chamber and all local traders.

The Chamber is actively involved with the Newport Town Website, and shares a part interest of this site with the Town Council.

The Chamber, on behalf its members, produces the 'town map', an annual publication widely distributed advertising our members and the services they provide.

In recent years, the Chamber has been actively involved in:

  • Objecting to the proposal from Lloyds bank when it proposed to close its Newport branch
  • Objecting to the County council in its proposal to start charging in the town car park

Unfortunately, one of these campaigns has been unsuccessful; Newport retains its bank, but despite great opposition from all over Pembrokeshire, PCC has decided to implement car-park charges during the holiday season.

Membership of the Chamber is open to any person, company or organisation interested or actively engaged in business in Newport and the surrounding district.
